Willow Tree® - something special

something special is one of several brand new figurines added to the Willow Tree collection for 2014. Hand carved by artist Susan Lordi, as is every original piece in the collection, the figurine expresses the sentiment ‘You make the world a better place’ and symbolises hope for the future of the planet.

 

The sculpture features a young boy proudly holding a pot with a plant just beginning to sprout, and he is portrayed kneeling on a rock etched with words such as green, peace and nature, as well as with puzzle pieces symbolic of the way the world is inextricably linked together. Susan adds, ‘Special can mean the special responsibility to care for our planet and to nurture all our children. “Something” can be interpreted on many levels. The little sprout is an unknown. What’s it going to become?’

 

As a first for Willow Tree, and aptly trialed with this figurine with its message of conserving the world’s natural resources, the packaging materials can all be recycled. The inner shell is made from an innovative paper material that will both protect the sculpture and will biodegrade.
