A Heartfelt Journey with Great Ormond Street Hospital

Welcome to another instalment of our series commemorating thirty remarkable years of Enesco!

As we reminisce on our journey, we are deeply moved by the meaningful partnerships and projects that have shaped our legacy.

Great Ormond Street Hospital Partnership

In 2009, Enesco proudly embarked on a transformative journey with Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). This collaboration marked the beginning of a heartfelt relationship filled with compassion and creativity. It all began with a special Willow Tree piece crafted by artist Susan Lordi. The figurine, aptly named 'Heart of Gold', embodies the spirit of care and support that defines GOSH's dedication to its young patients and their families.

'Heart of Gold' Willow Tree Figurine

The 'Heart of Gold' Willow Tree figurine portrays a boy cradling a heart in his hands, symbolising the unwavering love and dedication of Great Ormond Street Hospital staff. This figurine was inspired by a young cancer patient at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO, USA, who was the son of close friends of Susan Lordi. This young patient, with his courageous spirit and kind smile, brought so much love, joy, and comfort to others, serving as a beacon of hope and resilience. Each figurine is meticulously hand-carved and hand-painted, ensuring it captures and conveys heartfelt emotions. Since its introduction, 'Heart of Gold' has touched the lives of many, serving as a poignant reminder of the enduring power of compassion.'

Extending Our Impact with Peter Rabbit

Our collaboration with GOSH continued to flourish beyond Willow Tree. Inspired by the success of the figurine, we joined forces with the beloved Beatrix Potter brand to create a special edition Peter Rabbit soft toy. This enchanting project not only brought joy to countless faces but also incorporated a unique touch; artwork created by the hospital's young patients.

Peter Rabbit Soft Toy with Patients' Artwork

The unique soft toy initiative engaged children at GOSH's GoCreate! workshop, where their creative talents were harnessed to design elements of the toy. Aylish and Emma from Enesco attended the launch event, personally delivering these special Peter Rabbit toys to children on the wards.
